The iron boot is one of the oldest medieval tortures and can be used in many different ways. The preparation for the torture is the following: victim got his feet placed in a huge steel boot and secured there with chains or other type of restraining devices.

The first option with iron boot medieval torture was beating. An intense pain was cast with hard beating the boot with a sledge-hammer or a big rock. Human feet not suffer lethal damage during this procedure but pain was sp strong that the victim would normally pass out in just minutes.

Another option was to put boiling water inside the boot. You probably heard about the famous boiling alive medieval torture, but in this case boot was filled with water and then kept above the burning fire. The temperature were growing slowly tormenting slave's feet until the victim died or confessed.

There is a harder version of this medieval torture, where the boot was filled with molten metal instead of water. Normally silver or lead was used to this operation.
